Katherine Mangiardi: Merging Art and Skating Mastery

Katherine Mangiardi is an accomplished artist, coach, and figures performer with a distinguished career in both the art and figure skating worlds. Holding a USFSA gold medal in Moves in the Field, Katherine has dedicated over 15 years to coaching skaters of all levels throughout the tristate area. Her profound understanding of figure skating technique and her passion for the sport have made her a respected coach and mentor.

Katherine's academic journey led her to Vassar College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Her education provided a foundation for her to merge her skating experience with her artistic endeavors, resulting in a unique exploration of the connection between the etchings a skater leaves on the ice and the creation of a drawing. This innovative approach has garnered her opportunities to collaborate with the Ice Theatre of New York, where she has also performed as a figures skater.

In 2009, Katherine was awarded the W.K. Rose Fellowship in the Creative Arts, a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. Her work has been exhibited in various museums and galleries, where she continues to captivate audiences with her exploration of themes such as extension, displacement, and diffusion of the body in activities like lacework and figure skating.

Katherine is not only an artist but also a leader in the skating community. She shares her passion and expertise through leading clinics and being actively involved with The World Figure Fancy Championships. Her contributions to both fields have made her a beloved figure among her peers and students.

Katherine Mangiardi's journey is a testament to the power of merging disciplines and following one's passions. Through her art and coaching, she continues to inspire and leave a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to witness her work.
