The Art of Stretching: How Viktoriya Ryabchikova Helps Figure Skaters and Exercise Enthusiasts

Towards the end of her competitive career, Viktoriya developed a passion to pass her knowledge on to others. Even though it is a difficult and precise coaching where dedication is required, she enjoys seeing all of her students’ achievements.

Working as a coach, Viktoria also discovered a love of choreography and directing shows and performances. Her background in rhythmic gymnastics helped her transition to dance and she was accepted into the National Music Theater.

Viktoriya moved to New York after a successful career in dance and performance and worked as a Rhythmic Gymnastics coach at Freedom Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy. At the same time, Viktoria began working with figure skaters as a stretching coach.

Her stretching technique is inspired by rhythmic gymnastics and helps figure skaters improve their flexibility and strength to add more grace to on ice performances including the ability to have difficult spin variations and unique spiral sequences.

Viktoriya believes that the importance of stretching is not just for competitive figure skaters, but for everyone! Staying loose increases range of motion, prevents injuries and reduces muscle tension from inactivity (like the kind that occurs when you're hunched over your desk all day). Stretching can also delay the onset of muscle fatigue

Stretching one muscle at a time can sometimes make you more susceptible to injury, so having someone like Viktoriya, a trained professional, to lead you is the best way to make sure that you are making the most out of your exercises and that you are focusing on all of the adjacent muscle groups.

Viktoriya’s personal approach is to help figure skaters stand out and exercise enthusiasts to safely Stretch Their Limits.
