Kids' Figure Skating Lessons in Montclair, NJ
Our Kids' Skating Foundations program lays the cornerstone of a child's athletic journey. We do far more than teach children to skate — we build a strong, safe and joyful athletic base that serves young skaters on and off the ice, at the Montclair State University Ice Arena.
Safety and confidence first
Our curriculum is designed by childhood-development and skating specialists, and safety always comes first. In a secure, encouraging environment, children learn to balance, glide, stop and fall safely — turning the basics into an adventure through fun, game-based exercises. As skills grow, so does confidence, focus and a positive "I-can" attitude.
What your child develops
Beyond skating, young athletes build dynamic balance, core stability and motor coordination that transfer to every sport. Our energetic coaches specialize in engaging young minds, teaching discipline and resilience alongside edges and crossovers, and nurturing a genuine love of movement.
From first steps to competition
Many children start in the arena's Learn-to-Skate program, then move into focused lessons with us as they're ready. When a child shows passion and aptitude, we help map the next steps — choosing between singles (jumps) or ice dance (edges, rhythm and artistry) — and prepare them for their first US Figure Skating tests and competitions.
How to enroll
Tell us your child's age and experience and we'll recommend the right starting point — group foundations, private lessons, or a mix. Our summer camp is also a great way to build skills and friendships over the break.
